Lori Fung (CAN)
Birth date: 21 February 1963
Lori Fung of Canada made history at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, where she took the first gold medal awarded in rhythmic gymnastics in Games history.
Born February 21, 1963 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Fung earned seven Canadian all-around titles during her career. In world championships competition, she was 23rd in '83 and ninth in '85. An appendicitis attack prevented her from competing in the '87 world championships, and she retired prior to the '88 Olympics.
Fung is the recipient of Canada's highest civilian award - The Order of Canada - and is an inductee in the Canadian Hall of Fame.
